This presentation will showcase how 3D design and printing is being used in a 5th grade STEM classroom. We will discuss how we teach students to use a CAD program for 3D designs, as well as a few of the successful projects students have participated in over the years. One new project we will showcase this year is in collaboration with the math program. This project allows students to creatively demonstrate their understanding of volume while also designing & printing a 3D town. Another project we will showcase is one that we’ve participated in for several years. Students learn about, assemble, and donate 3D printed prosthetic hands through enablingthefuture.org and differentheroes.com.
